Hey, world! It’s Lora.
Looks like Bulgaria has given us a very hot and sunny weather lately and I’m loving it! 😉 I’m definitely going to take advantage of it as I have some awesome road trips and activities planned. However, one of my favourite things to do in summer is listening to music… NON-STOP! (especially when I’m travelling) So why not make a list of my favourite summer tunes, right?
Bellyache (Marian Hill Remix) – Billie Eilish
“Sittin’ all alone, mouth full of gum, in the driveway. My friends aren’t far in the back of my car, lay their bodies…”
I recently found Billie Eilish’s music and I’m so happy about it because it’s very unique and different. Honestly, I have to say that I enjoyed the remix more than the original song. It has a great rhythm and I’m planning to do a choreography on it. Let’s see how it turns out! 😀
Ocean Eyes – Billie Eilish
“I’ve been watching you for some time. Can’t stop staring at those oceans eyes…”
Another one of Billie Eilish’s great songs but it’s slower and there are mostly vocals.
Rodena Takava – DARA
“Там има някой, който да ѝ отива, да отваря вратата пред нея и да я разсмива…”
This is a Bulgarian song with a very catchy beat. I watched DARA perform it live at a concert in my town and I couldn’t help but dance! ❤
Can’t Get Enough – Basenji
“I can’t get enough of you. Oh, I’m falling into this again…”
I heard this song for the first time in my favourite film – “Nerve” (it’s in the soundtrack). Since then, I can’t stop listening to it.
Ne Si Za Men – Kristian Kostov
“Понякога искам да те прегърна. Понякога бягам и пак обръщам се назад…”
Another Bulgarian song on the list – the debut of Kristian Kostov (who, in case you didn’t know, won 2nd place in Eurovision 2017). I like the rhythm and the lyrics.
Feel It Still (Lido Remix) – Portugal. The Man
“Ooh woo, I’m a rebel just for kicks, now. I been feeling it since 1966, now. Might be over now, but I feel it still…”
I’m in love with this one because of its energetic beat and summerish feeling. Plus, the remix is FIRE!!
Leave me a comment with YOUR favourite summer song, so I can listen to it. You can also follow me on Instagram (@my.messy.blog) because I post a lot of cool stuff there too. Hey, world! It’s Lora.
As you all know, I really love dancing! Being able to express myself in such an awesome way is what makes dancing so special for me. But there might be quite a few awkward situations which dancers can’t avoid. So this post is dedicated to those exact struggles which you may have experienced if you are a dancer. Let’s just laugh together! 😀
1. When you miss one class and they’ve learned an entire routine
Let me just… burn in hell.
2. When no one remembers the dance
I guess this happens way too often during rehearsals for concerts or performances and we all just look at each other like: ”What is happening?”
3. Having to response to everything with “I can’t, I have dance”
Oh, those iconic six words… Personal Life < DANCE
4. Doing a choreography in your head instead of paying attention to the class
5. When you have to change your clothes for every dance in the concert over a short period of time
I always feel like Usain Bolt when I’m running from the stage to the dressing room to change my costume. 😀 Quick changes (as they call them) are the worst!
6. Feeling like you’re really rocking the dance but then watching the video and being disappointed
Basically the story of my life. Every time I decide to record myself, that’s how I think I look like when I’m dancing:
That’s how I actually look like:
7. When the teacher says “One last time!” = 648 times
It’s never the last time!
8. Dancing to the songs in the supermarket
Every time I go to the supermarket, they are always playing the songs which we use for our dances. So I end up doing the choreographies in the middle of the shop.
9. Hanging around in public with your stage make-up on after a performance
People are sometimes scared of me…
10. When you have so many inside jokes with your crew, that it’s difficult for other people to understand you
I feel like we don’t communicate like normal people anymore because of all the inside jokes that we have. But that’s a result of everything that we have experienced together. 😀
I rarely make dance-related publications. If you enjoyed reading it, leave me a comment, so I can make more posts about dancing. You can also check out my previous post: 15 Struggles Only Book Worms Understand! Wishing you a lovely day!
Hey, world! It’s Lora.
GUYS, IT’S FINALLY SUMMER AND I CAN’T BE HAPPIER ABOUT IT! ❤ I finished ALL of my exams (including the English PET Cambridge exam) and I can now enjoy my free time without worrying about anything. If you still have tests going on at your school, I’ve got my fingers crossed for you because I know the struggle. Everything will be fine, trust me! ❤ It’s been a long and tough school year. However, I’ve never been so excited about the upcoming summer days. That’s why I wanted to show you some marvelous ways to make your summer a little bit more awesome. In this post I’ve also included several activities which I personally love to do in this season, so I hope you’ll like them too. Let’s start!
Many people choose to be lazy in summer but staying active is really important for you and your body. It may sound like a cliché but it actually isn’t. 🙂 Taking advantage of the good weather and using it to do a sport will definitely be a plus for you. A great way to stay active in summer is to join a camp or a sporting activity. The possibilities are endless. You can always search online or visit the local sports centre to see if there’s a camp or a course in your area. Last summer, I did this and I found a dance group which I joined. About two months later, I also attended a dance camp and it was so much fun! Even if you are not keen on camps and courses, you can always do some of these activities with your friends:
- riding bicycles
- hiking in the mountains/ having a walk in the forest
- playing volleyball in teams
- jogging together
PLANNING YOUR SUMMER READING
That’s definitely something I love to do in the beginning of every summer vacation. I simply create a list which includes the books I would like to read in the summer. Sometimes I use Goodreads (which in case you don’t know is a really cool website for bookworms) to challenge myself to read as many books as I can by setting a “goal” in the Goodreads system.
Our school has a required summer reading list to complete. However, I enjoy creating my own. Sharing the books you’ve read with your friends and spending time in the local library (which I just looove to do) are two awesome summer activities for you to try out!
EATING FRESH FRUIT
I don’t wanna sound like your grandma but there’s a variety of fresh fruits growing during the summer (especially here, in Bulgaria). And I particularly love sneaking into my grandpa’s garden and picking off some berries or figs. I recently found some wonderful lemonade recipes on Pinterest which are perfect for the hot summer days. You can make them with different fruits and flavours, so don’t mind clicking this link and checking them out! 🙂
HAVE A BONFIRE OR A PICNIC
Bonfires are my guilty pleasure! It’s not like I love to light up things on fire… *awkward silence*… I actually do! (especially if they are my ripped up old homework) 😀
However, my family, friends and I do this every summer and it always turns out great. On my last birthday grandpa lit up a campfire and we roasted steaks and s’mores. I highly recommend you trying out the idea this summer. I guarantee you that it will be lots of fun! Even if you’re not a fan of bonfires, you can always find a peaceful place for you and your friends to make a picnic.
SEND LETTERS TO YOUR FRIENDS
Sending real letters to your friends (a.k.a. using the “snail mail” = letters delivered by postal delivery services) is one of my most favourite summer activities. If you’ve never sent a letter through the post, I challenge you to do it this summer! It’s a more personable way to communicate with somebody and keep in touch with everything that’s happening in their life. You can decorate your letter or put something else in the envelope (a bracelet or a packet of candies). Plus, the letters you’ve already received are a great summer memory. You betta keep them! 😉
Well… I hope you enjoyed reading my super duper long post. Let me know in the comments what is YOUR favourite summer activity and if you’d like me to post more of these! ❤ Wishing you a lovely day!
Hey, world! It’s Lora. ❤
I finally managed to write a new blog post (yay!)… which is very rare for me lately. As you already know, I’m having three extremely important exams this year in May and I’m struggling with finding time for my hobbies.
*says she doesn’t have free time*
*keeps sitting on the couch and scrolling through Instagram posts*
Anyways… As Easter is one of my favourite holidays, I decided to make a post all about my Easter 2017 celebrations. In Bulgaria we decorate and dye chicken eggs in different colours for the occasion. There’s also a tradition where each person hits the other person’s hard-boiled egg with their own. This is known as “egg tapping” (peep the link for some more interesting info) The egg which didn’t crack is the winner. If your egg is strong and beats the others, it means you’ll be healthy during the whole year. This year I wanted to improvise a little with the egg decorations and make my eggs look funkier. So here are some techniques I created and tried.
My first idea was to make colourful sprinkles on the egg. I also added some sparkly details with a fabric paint pen. The consistency that comes out of this pen is super squishy but when it dries out, it looks really cool.
The next idea is totally my favourite! ❤ I basically found it on Pinterest but I fell in love with it the moment I saw it. The eggs should look like sleeping girls after the transformation. The design is beautiful and plain – that’s exactly why I like it. And you’ll only need a permanent marker of your choice to create it. When I finished drawing the face of the girl, I drew a flower crown and added dots in pastel colours with a cotton bud.
After that, I decorated a few eggs using a traditional Bulgarian technique. I put on a glove and coloured it with paints in different colours. There are no rules, so I just experimented and created a mess. When I was ready, I started holding the egg in my hand, so the paint can leave some colourful patterns on it.
My little brother loves dragons and dinosaurs. That’s why I created a design that looks just like a dino egg. I used the technique with the glove ↑ to paint the eggs. Then, I sticked on some googly eyes, added thorns on the back and funny faces, so they can look just like dinosaurs. (…what was I thinking? dinosaurs can’t make silly faces…)
For those who don’t celebrate Easter in this way, leave me a comment below and tell me more about your traditions at home. 🙂 I would love to read your thoughts and learn how you celebrated this lovely holiday. I hope I’ll find more free time for my blog very soon! Bye, guys!
Hey, world! It’s Lora.
As you probably noticed, I haven’t been posting for about a month because I’ve been very busy lately. I’ll try to be active and provide you with more interesting content. 🙂 Today’s post is connected with planning. This is something I’ve never written about in my blog but I’ve been using a planner since September. I was inspired by Haley Pham (my favourite youtuber) and her amazing “Erin Condren” planner. I love keeping everything organized and I thought that this would be perfect for me. I am also a fan of everything handmade, so creating my own planner sounded awesome to me. And that’s how it all started…
I used a big notebook and just decorated the cover. In this post I’ll try to show you the process of making the planner spreads. I start by drawing the boxes with a colourful crayon. I choose a different colour every time.
After that, I cut banners out of self-adhesive paper, so it’s easier for me to stick them to the pages.
Next, I put some sticky notes between the banners on which I write the most important thing for the day.
When I’m ready with the layout. I start writing and decorating. I create the to-do lists for each day and write down all of the events that are going to happen during the week.
I also put the dates above the banners (for example – 17th Monday) and decorate them with different designs. The picture below shows some of the designs that I’ve done before. The days of the week are written in Bulgarian, so you probably can’t read them. 🙂
As you have noticed, I made two banners on the left side which I left empty. I use them to write my goals for the week and some blog ideas. I sometimes put a picture or a quote that will keep me motivated throughout the week.
I have a few packets with a variety of different stickers and I love to put them in my planner spreads. I also use a lot of colourful markers and pens, so my activities and tasks are organized by colours.
That’s everything! I’m ready! Here’s a picture of the final result and some of my previous planner spreads.
This was my first planner post ever. I’m willing to make more of these because I’m slowly becoming a real planner addict. I hope you enjoyed seeing my planning routine. I would love to read your comments and thoughts, so don’t forget to leave them below. I recently made an Instagram account of my blog (@my.messy.blog) and you can follow me there too. Bye, guys!
Hey, world! It’s Lora.
It’s 2017 and I’m really excited to start this new adventure, achieve my goals and conquer my fears. I hope that this year will be very successful and full of happiness…even if it isn’t, I’ll make it! ❤ I hate when people say: “new year, new me”. Everyone is still the same and nothing has changed, unless you do it! So think of the new year as a fresh start and a new beginning. Make your life better, try new things and don’t complain because everything is in your hands. In this post, I’ll try to show my new year’s resolutions and goals, so let’s start!
1. Get more sleep!
This is something I’ve always wanted to achieve. I go to bed late almost every day and that’s my worst habit. I study a lot because I want to have good marks and because of that, I’m not getting enough sleep. This is really bad for my body because I’m still 13 and I’m growing. I’ll definitely try to change it and get enough sleep.
2. Go to The Center Summer Dance Camp 2017
As you may know, I often go to dance camps which are organized by the dance school I go to. So I really want to attend the next one in September. That would be awesome because I learn a lot during these camps and I find new friends. We have classes with many different choreographers. Having the opportunity to experience all of this, helps me grow as a dancer and improve my skills. If you want to learn more, you can check out my post about the last camp I went to. 🙂
3. Get my PET certificate of English
I’ve been studying English for about eight years and I love it. I already have 3 certificates and this year, I’m going to have an exam for the level PET (Preliminary English Test – B1). I’m currently preparing and studying for it. The exam will be in June, so wish me good luck!
(my planer! featuring my new year’s eve plan & my new year’s resolutions)
4. Reach 400 followers
Blogging is something very special for me. I share all of my adventures in life in my blog. My goal this year is to engage as many people as I can in this journey… and make them feel like home here. “My Messy Blog” is growing and I’m very proud of it. I’ll try to reach 400 followers in 2017 and let’s hope that my dream will come true.
5. Have good marks on my final exams
In Bulgaria, all of the seventh-graders take really important exams in the end of the year which are called “maturi” (матури). There are three exams – Bulgarian Language, Maths and English. You have to be prepared very well for them because your final result will tell in which high school you’re going to study for the next 5 years. So you probably understand why I’m so worried. My goal is to have good marks on them. I have to work very hard to achieve this but I’m sure that I can do it and I won’t give up!
6. Visit a foreign country
Believe me or not, I’ve never been abroad…. I’ve always wanted to visit a foreign country and I hope that this year, I’ll finally have the opportunity to travel abroad. I would love to see Rome, Paris or Amsterdam, but my dream is to go to Rio de Janeiro.
I’m sure that the best is yet to come and I’ll try to be positive this year. So should I say…”Hello, 2017! Hope you’ll be a good one!” 🙂
Hey! I’ll just leave you the video here… I’m speechless. THIS is Art… Truly my favourite choreography of all time. I wish I was there to learn it with these amazing dancers. Have an inspirational day! xoxo, Lora
Hey, world! It’s Lora.
I’ve never heard of “cake in a mug” recipes before and I was very surprised that there’s such a thing. As some of you may know, I’m a huge fan of hot chocolate and I drink it almost every day. So I was curious to find out more about these delicious cakes. I searched for recipes and I found some awesome ones which are worth trying. Real cakes are definitely better than mug cakes but they’re a nice treat if you are in a hurry. Down below you can see some of my favourites:
(click on the images to make them bigger)
Mug cakes are great for the cold winter days and I’m probably going to make some more of those. 🙂 I’m currently posting a lot of photos on my Instagram, so you can follow me there – @loriveleva. I would love to read your thoughts, so don’t forget to leave me a comment. Have a wonderful day!
Hey, world! It’s Lora.
Christmas is that magical time of the year in which we can spend some quality time with our families and enjoy the little moments. It is also the best time for exchanging gifts.
The first thing is this awesome little backpack with floral print. We call it “meshka” in Bulgaria. I have been wanting one of those bags for so long and I finally have it. It’s perfect for my dance classes because I can put my dance shoes and water bottle in it.
I also got this pyjama which I absolutely love. The top has cute cartoon sheep on it and the bottom part has red and white stripes. I don’t know if I’m the only one but pyjamas are something I love to receive. 😀
I received a wonderful book (“The Art of Drawing”) all about the drawing techniques. As you may know, I’m keen on drawing and often do it in my spare time. This book will definitely help me to improve my skills and create better art. There’s also a nice little notebook. I haven’t decided what to use it for but if you have any suggestions, I would love to read them in the comments.
Another thing is this giant encyclopedia about the universe. I started reading it yesterday and I learned a lot so far. I got this package of my favourite cream fudge candies. If anyone’s wondering – you can get them from “Lidl” stores.
I also received the “UNO” game. I played it a few times with my family and we had so much fun. And of course, there isn’t a great party without the “BeanBoozled” candies. “BeanBoozled” is more of a game than anything else actually. In the photo below you can see the crazy flavors that come in this box. They are all mixed up with some normal flavors so it’s a mystery as to which flavor you’ll actually get. First, I was scared to try them out but it was actually fun!
And finally…this little ring which you can see in the bottom of the photo. It’s black and it has a triangle charm on it. I can actually say that this is one of my favourite presents. I hope you liked this post. Leave me a comment below and tell me what did you receive for Christmas. Wishing you wonderful holidays! ❤
