Adventures in Sofia

Hey, world! It’s Lora.

I haven’t been posting for a long time and I’ve been missing blogging so much. A lot of things are happening in my life now and I’m struggling with the problem of finding time for everything. Anyways, I was in Sofia (the capital of Bulgaria) about two weeks ago on 18th March and I feel like this was one of the best days in 2017 for me so far. I had so much fun, so why not make a post about it, right? 😉

We left from Plovdiv early in the morning and arrived in Sofia at about 10.30h. Our first destination was IKEA and I couldn’t be happier about it because I love going there. IKEA is big but manageable. I like to just look around at their inspiration and see what new products they have. Before we got there I took a look at their catalog and made a wish list with all of the stuff I wanted, so I was well-prepared for the adventure. 🙂 I got an awesome pillow with a cat print on it, a strawberry scented candle, a rug and frames for my new drawings.

We had lunch there too and I won’t lie saying that those Swedish meals with meatballs covered in gravy and fries are totally the bomb! 🙂 I really enjoyed spending the morning in this awesome place and finding inspiration to redesign my room at home. When we got out of IKEA, dad drove me to a dance hall in the center of Sofia. And guess what was I going to do there?…. TAKE A WORKSHOP FROM THE DANCE LEGEND KEVIN PARADOX!!!

Honestly, I’ve never believed that going to one of Kevin Paradox’s classes will ever become a reality. But it actually happened and during this workshop I was the happiest person on Earth. I had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn from such an amazing person and dancer. I was really excited when I entered the dance hall. They gave me a red pass bracelet and I started searching for my friends in the crowd. They were all so satisfied and nervous at the same time (just like me). Then, Kevin Paradox came in and the workshop began a few minutes after that. He didn’t teach us a choreography. He talked a lot about the history of dance and about having better control of our moves while we’re dancing. Paradox taught us about the 6 different parts of our body – head, shoulders, corpus, pelvis, knees and feet; and we worked a lot with each part. We had to do some really interesting and challenging tasks connected with freestyling. The whole workshop was so cool! Everything that I learned there, from information to techniques, will be very useful for me in the future as I’m planning to continue growing in dancing. In the end, I had the chance to take a picture with him and catch this precious moment.

“Just like a movie is 1000’s of pictures put together. Dance is a 1000’s of poses put after each other. Every pose tells a different story.
If you change the poses of your dance, you can change your dance and always create something new.” – Kevin Paradox

That’s a picture of me and my dance buddies with Kevin Paradox. After the most amazing workshop I’ve ever went to, my family and I went to Starbucks to celebrate this great day. I tried the Burnt Caramel Frappuccino for the first time and I really liked it. While we were sitting in the café I tried to write down in my notebook everything that Paradox said, so I can remember it and practice it.

This day was all I could ask for and I’m grateful for everything that happened on 18th March 2017. A day full of new experiences, emotions and activities spent with my favourite people…
